It gives me enormous pleasure to welcome our new Year 7 students and families to our Bassaleg Community at the start of this new academic year. A warm welcome back to all of our pupils; I trust you and your families, friends and loved ones enjoyed some quality time together over the summer break wherever that may have been!
I look ahead with such excitement to the 2021/2022 academic year as we embark on what is going to be the most transformational development to our infrastructures Bassaleg School has ever seen. I very much look forward to updating pupils, parents and carers, staff and community members on plans as they unfold and engaging with all of our stakeholders at every stage. Off the back of the most extraordinarily challenging times over the past 18 months, with our pupils facing so many restrictions in their daily lives, I feel very proud to be able to promise our learners very special experiences ahead.
With innovative curriculum design plans in place, our team at Bassaleg is once again wholly committed to ensuring that every child aspires to be the very best they can be with high quality teaching, learning and wellbeing at the very heart of our ethos. We will strive to enable all of our learners to feel challenged and also supported and cared for, to be ambitious, to be positive in their outlook and curious about the world in which they live, to be respectful and honest and above all else, happy and true to themselves. Our mission statement: ‘Believing and Belonging’ very much represents the aspiration we instil within our community in everything we do, alongside the expectation for everyone to always ‘look after ourselves and look after each other.’
I wish the entire community at Bassaleg a happy, healthy and successful year ahead.
