It is with great pleasure I welcome back our entire school community to a brand new Autumn Term. It has been wonderful to see our classrooms and corridors filled with the hub of learning and laughter once again.
It has been incredibly positive to see our young people return to school with such enthusiasm; whilst I’m certain many of them, like you, are anxious about what has been missed in the way of learning, I want to reassure you that our priorities very much lie rooted in both support and challenge.
We will continue to look after our young people whilst challenging them to do their very best. Such core values lie at the heart of our new mission statement: ‘Believing and Belonging’ ‘Credu a Pherthyn’ and are fully represented in the symbolism of our proud new ‘stag’ logo featured now on our branding. Looking to the right, our new stag is forward thinking and progressive; its neck creating the shape of a shield in reference to the school’s resilience and pride, often of course found in family shields.
The watermark: the more dynamic stag is ‘leaping,’ showing our confidence and strength as a school community. With news of significant investment for the school coming our way, it really is an incredibly exciting time for Bassaleg. It has been very much a ‘team effort’ over the last few months; I look forward to continuing to work closely with all of our stakeholders to achieve the very best for all of our young people.
