This form is to be completed by the Parent or Guardian.
Updating Student Data
To ensure we maintain up to date student contact / medical information for our school records, it is the responsibility of the Parent/Carer to email Bassaleg.School@newportschools.wales, at the earliest opportunity regarding any amendments/deletions to contact details eg: moving house, telephone numbers, email address etc. or to a students medical info.

Parent Pay is a quick and simple way to pay for things like school trips and to put money onto your child’s dining card. Please follow the link to help you get your account set up:
Illness and Absence
Parents/Carers must submit an absence via the Class Charts app (before 9.00 am). When sending in a message please ensure you advise of symptoms. You can also use Class Charts for future absences, for example medical or doctor appointments.
You should attach evidence if possible.

Leaving school early
If your child is required to leave school early due to an appointment, Parents/Carers must inform the School via the Class Charts app (by 9.00am or asap), you can also upload evidence of the appointment.
Pupils are to go to Forge Reception to sign out and then meet their parents outside Forge Gates. Pupils must then sign back in on their return via the pupil office.

Lateness
If your child is going to be late, Parents/Carers must inform the School via the Class Charts app (by 9.00am or asap) with the reason for being late, they must go to the pupil office to sign in.

Classcharts App
Lost Property
Bassaleg School does not take responsibility for any items lost on the premises. It is the pupil’s responsibility to search for their lost item(s); Parents are not able to visit site to retrieve items from the classroom on behalf of a pupil. Pupils will be advised to retrace their steps and visit their classrooms or pupil office to locate lost items.
Please ensure that your child’s items are clearly labelled with their full name to enable us to return items to the correct person. Pupils are able to access pupil office at break time if they have lost an item, however, we cannot take responsibility if an item is collected by the wrong person.
Any items not collected at the end of each term will be given to charity or offered to the wider school community via our uniform shop. Please do not send pupils to school with valuable or sentimental items.
As part of our ongoing drive to help parents stay informed of what’s happening at school, we are using ‘Classcharts’ – a website and smartphone app. The new, free, smartphone app for parents is now available for download called ‘Classcharts Parents’ for Apple and Android
Classcharts should be used to report all pupil absences and appointments. All other questions / information should still be sent via the School Gateway App
